Northport Fires

Two fires are under investigation in Northport, as two firefighters are recovering from injuries.  The firefighters were injured fighting a fire in the Windsong subdivision Tuesday afternoon.  Fire investigators say one of the firefighters has a knee injury, and the other hurt his shoulder.  Both are expected to fully recover.

The Windsong fire destroyed two houses.  Firefighters are not sure what caused it, but they say they know where it started.  "We determined the fire actually started in the middle between the two houses," Captain Ricky Mills, Northport Fire Investigator, said.  "At this time we are not sure of the exact cause, but we were able to pinpoint the origin. But, it's still under investigation as far as the exact cause."  No residents were injured in the fire, and a dog was rescued from one of the homes.

The other fire under investigation happened Tuesday night at 1107 26th Avenue in Northport.  Investigators say the fire started in the kitchen.  No one was home at the time, but investigators say the home is a total loss.
