NEWS Internships
***The deadline to apply for a Summer 2012 News Internship Monday, April 9, 2012. This deadline is for internships in the NEWS department only. No late or incomplete applications will be accepted.
Two ways to submit your application: E-mail it to tbrewer@wvuatv.com or mail it to Terri Brewer, Box 870172, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487. You may confirm receipt of your application by E-mailing tbrewer@wvuatv.com.
At WVUA-TV, interns are an integral part of what we do. Since we are owned by the University of Alabama and located on the campus, we have a large intern program. Some of our interns receive school credit, but this is not required. No prior experience is required to intern with WVUA-TV, but experience may help you to get accepted into our program more quickly.
Once you join the WVUA-TV intern program, the sky is the limit! Our most experienced interns perform the same duties as our professional reporters and producers. Skill level and dedication determines each individual's rate of progress, and our professional staff members serve as the “coaches” for our interns. WVUA is a great place to get hands-on experience and to figure out if television news is the right field for you. All interns join our program as unpaid volunteers. If you qualify for Work Study at the University of Alabama, we may be able to allow you to complete your Work Study at WVUA-TV.
If you’re interested in becoming an intern at WVUA, download the News Intern Application. There are multiple components to the application process; the form details each component. Once your application is complete, E-mail or mail it to the address above. You are not guaranteed an internship, but after your application has been reviewed, someone will contact you with further information. This may take several weeks to several months. Phone calls and walk-in appointments are not accepted. If you have questions, E-mail tbrewer@wvuatv.com. Thank you for your interest in WVUA internships.
