Alabama Aid

February 8, 2012 - 5:50pm

The state is seeking more federal aid for three Alabama counties that were hit by tornadoes last month.  Gov. Robert Bentley's office says the state is asking the Federal Emergency Management Agency to approve grants to help fund debris removal and repair work in Chilton, Jefferson and Perry counties.

The public assistance program repays local governments for part of the cost of cleaning up after natural disasters.  The governor's request follows the federal government's decision to provide grants and low-costs loans for individuals and businesses that were affected by the storms in the same three counties.
